Dodge Blew My Mind

We haven’t been up to our usual adventures lately due to truck problems.. our turbo went out, so yes the truck still ran, but neither of us wanted to push it. When you pay as much as we did for a truck, you really don’t expect to have any big issues, for awhile at least and we certainly weren’t prepared for that cost after being on the road for only 6 mos. I get it trucks break, things happen when you aren’t ready… that’s just life, but I truly couldn’t believe how this story ended.

After sitting around with a broken truck, to scared to go any further than the store (about 3 miles away), for 3 weeks we had saved the $3,000 it would cost us to get a rebuild turbo from Napa, Jim had planned to put it in him self, since there was no way we’d be able to afford the $6000-$7000 it would have cost for a brand new part and to have it put in by the dealership. Poor guy had worked 78.4 hours the week before, and I knew he was exhausted, but like a champ willing to spend his first free weekend tearing apart the truck. The part was supposed to be there Friday, Thursday Napa called and told me that the company doing these rebuilds didn’t have any left, they were having trouble getting cores back from people, however if we wanted to give them our broken turbo, they could rebuild it for us…. ok so he takes apart the truck and we send it in ( 3-5) days before they will receive it, how long will it take for them to rebuild it… oh they won’t be able to get to it for at least a month! You have got to be kidding me, we have to leave 3 weeks! Not to mention 5th wheels have very small refrigerators, I can’t go that long with out a trip to the store… and to walk it would be a whole day thing, and how exactly would I care dog food well dragging a two year old along? I’m not going to lie I snapped.. what were we going to do? I was so upset, so I googled CEO of dodge lmao… I needed to complain to someone, what better than a person that is so busy they probably won’t ever see my email, let alone read it. Less than an hour later my phone rang, Mike the secretary of the CEO of corporate dodge? He asked me a few questions, explained how they go above doing recalls on parts and ensured me the turbo was not on the recall list…. he said he wanted to call the local Dodge that had seen the truck, and he’d call me back, reminding me that Most dodge dealerships are privately owned and there was most likely nothing he could do. 10 mins later he called back… ok really? Not only did you read my email and call me but now you have gone out of your way to pull some strings? He gave me the name of the head guy in charge of all the work done at the Dodge in Colorado Springs Andy, told me he would cover another diagnostic and we could go from there… ok so I figured I’d drop it off, they’d have it for a week only to find out that it was exactly what they had said it was 3 weeks ago and there was nothing more they could do unless I paid for it. I was reluctant, but very desperate… I dropped it off the next day, they had it for less than 24 hours before I received a call from Andy telling me is was exactly what they had said it was… the kicker Mike was going to pay for HALF of the cost to have it fixed? What no way, well ok is this going to take a month? Nope two days later I had my truck back and running like new…. and yes Mike paid for HALF of my bill…. 3 days after sending off an email I never expect anyone to read let alone get back to me they had gotten my truck back on the road! When I went to pick it up Lisa, Andy’s secretary went and personally brought it to me, as she handed me the keys I felt tears running down my cheeks, Thank you I told her, I’m still in shock…. she gave me a big hug and said I’m so glad we could help you out. They were all so incredibly kind and helpful, I felt like I had received VIP treatment from the dealership… even the shuttle guy was awesome! Mike didn’t have to do that, and the dealership didn’t have to be so kind and get me in so quick… in all honesty I’m pretty sure they worked on the truck on Sunday just so it would be ready Monday morning. The bottom line Dodge really does care, they aren’t a bunch of rich jerks that only care about themselves… they cared about me! They helped me! They saved me! I still couldn’t be more thankful, and would recommend Dodge to anyone looking to buy a car or truck… FYI this is the first and only problem we have had with our truck and I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a long time before we have any more issues! I’d like to say a special Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Mike, Andy, and Lisa, Colorado Dodge for doing quick quality work, and God bless everyone of you like he has blessed me ❤️

  2. It is so hard to believe a vehicle dealership cares about customers, but in your case you had a good experience. I’m so happy for you. Of course you need to give yourself a pat on the back too because if you hadn’t gone to the top, if you hadn’t followed up calls this would not have happened. So you and Dodge deserve the credit for solving this scary situation.

  3. This is a wonderful story. I’m so happy for you.
I’m currently living my own car adventure. I’m in a very rural area. My jeep jumped time. So today I’m trying to hobble together a mechanic, a tow service, and a ride.
